Southampton Sight is so grateful for all our wonderful volunteers that support the charity week in and week out and when you have been volunteering at the charity for over 30 years your opinion counts!
“The Monday group has always been referred to as the knit and natter group as when I first started there as a volunteer as most of the members used to knit. Mostly they knitted dishcloths that were sold to raise funds but some of them used to knit more ambitious things. That has now changed as hardly anyone knits these days but they still seem to enjoy nattering!!!! They have always been a very sociable group and I think they still are. It must be very scary when you start to lose your sight but coming to the group and knowing they are not alone gives them strength. I enjoy my Monday afternoons and am very fond of all the members. We also have a nice group of volunteers who work well together. Sadly we are all getting long in the tooth but I am sure I speak for all the volunteers when I say we will keep doing what we do as long as possible. I also praise all the staff who do a remarkable job for both the members and volunteers. Long may it continue!!!” Linda (Monday volunteer)
