Our children and young people, assisted by the Qualified Teachers of the Visually impaired (QTVI) from Southampton City Council , are having a learning day here at Southampton Sight.
It’s Thursday. It’s noisy. It’s fun. The smell of freshly baked cookies fills the room as everyone gets stuck into cooking, making the most of accessible kitchen aids that help build confidence and independence. Conversations are flowing, scales are being put to good use and are chatting away and skills are growing with every task completed. And of course, no activity here would be complete without a competitive game of Showdown to round things off. Plenty of laughs, a little friendly rivalry and another reminder that independence is built through experiences that are engaging, practical, and enjoyable.
If Thursdays had a fan club, we’d all be members. Come and join us one day. You know you want to.
