Last week Southampton Sight was invited to Southampton General Hospital to speak to clinical and administrative staff from the Ophthalmology department as part of their ongoing training.
Our Sight Loss Advisor Sonia teamed up with Debbie from OpenSight and Tom, representing The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association , to share information about the support our charities give people living with sight loss. Tom, assisted by his guide dog Toby, also shared his lived experience of sight loss. Sonia and Debbie then led sighted guiding training so that hospital staff are better equipped to help patients visiting the eye unit.
At Southampton Sight we believe that working with other local and national organisations in this way builds stronger relationships and more effective support for our members and the wider sight loss community.
