A massive ‘thank you’ to Nikki, Anita and all the team at The Wickets Care Home for putting the fun into fundraising with their empathy-infused Dining In The Dark event last Wednesday, all in aid of Southampton Sight.
Blindfolds on, spoons in hand, the gathered group of willing participants were treated to a feast fit for the senses, all while experiencing first-hand some of the challenges faced by people living with sight loss.
From a starter of chicken soup, a spaghetti bolognese main course, and a very creamy, crumbly chocolate moose with a biscuit base, the food presented more than ample opportunity for escape, mayhem, and mess, leading to laughter, conversation and trepidation as to what was on the plate!
But most importantly, behind the fun was a powerful message about empathy, awareness and understanding.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and helped raise over £100 for us, which is fantastic.
