On the eve of our exciting new venture into the world of visually impaired swimming, we here at Southampton Sight would like to send our thanks and gratitude to our project partners who have helped make these sessions a reality. Both Energise Me and Active Nation have worked tirelessly with us, embracing our dream of inclusivity and understanding the challenges faced by the visually impaired community of Southampton when trying to keep physically and mentally well. Based at The Quays leisure centre and running every Friday for an initial 20 weeks, our V.I.-centric swimming sessions will not only provide a fun and stress-free environment for our members, but will undoubtedly boost self-reliance, self-esteem, and a ‘can do’ ,attitude. So once again, a massive and heart-felt ‘thank you’ to Energise Me and Active Nation – without your support this initiative may well have sunk without trace.
