Southampton Sight received a distressed call a few weeks ago from a young mother who had experienced sudden sight loss over the weekend. She had a young baby and just didn’t know how she would cope and where to turn. After ascertaining her immediate needs we were able to have a conversation with Southampton City Council to ensure support was put in ASAP. Anthony, a ROVI with the Sensory Team, was able to visit and reassure as well as demonstrate IT tips and other adaptations that this young mother could adopt to ensure she can continue to live independently whilst raising her child. He is back out today to do a follow up and he is taking a Teddy, a very old teddy bear gifted to us here at Southampton Sight, to his new home where he will live for the moment! Our help doesn’t end here though as we will continue to support and be here whenever we are needed.
