As some of you may know, we have been feverishly beavering away behind the scenes to help bring Showdown, a fast-paced inclusive sport, to Southampton Sight. A mix of air hockey and table tennis, competitors are blindfolded allowing sighted and the sight impaired to battle it out on an even playing field.

All the equipment is now here, and we will be offering sessions here at Southampton Sight for all ages 16+* in two flavours across the summer and beyond.

Social Showdown

Firstly, starting on April 1st, we will be kicking off the competition with Social Showdown taster sessions. Running throughout the summer months from 4:30pm – 7:30pm on the 1st Wednesday of the month, these sessions offer an informal chance for anyone and everyone to drop by and try their hand at the table. Bring some food, bring a friend, and meet other people in our friendly and accessible centre.

Saturday Showdown

Starting on April 4th from 10am – 1pm, Saturday Showdown is the main event, our regular ongoing weekly session for players who mean to bring their game. Open to all, Saturday Showdown will be the place to be for head-to-head matches of fast reflexes and strategy. Not limited to the summer months, these sessions will allow players to hone their skills with an eye to team building, league matches and beyond!

Ready, Set, Showdown!

Whatever your preference, all sessions will initially be free to attend. Spaces are limited, so if you or someone you know is interested in attending please send an email to: support@southamptonsight.org.uk or call us on 02380 769 882 to secure your place today.

*We are looking to offer sessions for children aged 9 – 16 in the coming months. If interested, please email or phone to register your interest, thank you.
