On Saturday we were delighted to host our Christmas get-together for all our incredible volunteers and trustees — a chance to say a huge thank you for their support, dedication, and hard work they give throughout the year. We simply couldn’t do what we do without them all.
The event opened with Lieke van Putten, Chair of Trustees greeting everyone and thanking all our amazing volunteers and staff for their hard work in 2025.
We were delighted to welcome our patron Christina Rennie, Ophthalmologist and Director of Clinical Patient Safety at Southampton Hospital, who led an inspiring and interactive session exploring the future of ophthalmology.
Our CEO Jackie Powers then spoke about the power of saying YES, sharing uplifting stories from the past 12 months where members have grown from dependence to independence thanks to the support of our team and volunteers.
A special moment of the day was celebrating four amazing volunteers who have each dedicated over 20 years to Southampton Sight — what an achievement!
We rounded off the event with a scrummy celebration lunch, festive cheer, and a shared sense of pride in the work we all do together.
Thank you to every one of our volunteers — you truly make a difference to the people living with sight loss in Southampton.
