Making the move from children’s to adult services is a complex process, which is often a cause of stress and worry for young people and their families. The process can be very daunting and overwhelming for families, who often have known the same education staff for the majority of their child’s life. Each sector cannot work in isolation so collaborative working across both the children’s and adult services is essential for a successful transition experience. Communication is key between all parties and should be honest and transparent so it was a privilege for Southampton Sight to host both services at our centre yesterday as they planned an event for young people moving from education services to adult services.
