Our third champion of champions helped ignite our ‘Just Giving’ campaign in aid of preserving the wonderful trees around our centre. After the tragedy of losing one of our long-lived lime trees last year during Storm Darragh, we urgently called in a tree surgeon to see how best we could both secure and maintain these protected giants. Requiring delicate TLC, planning permissions, and a firm but steady hand, the necessary work comes to more than a pretty penny.
However, with one eye on our members safety, and the other on our beloved centre, we were left with little choice than to dig deep into our pockets and approve the work. Unfortunately, insurance may cover the damage caused by falling timber, but it won’t help cover the costs of preventing another falling tree…
And so it was with some amazement that we received a £1,000 donation out of the blue from one of our members. Specifically donated to help with all things tree-related, we cannot express how flabbergasted, how awestruck, and how grateful we were. We won’t disclose the identity of our kind-hearted benefactor – you know who you are – but you are truly one in a million! Thank you!
