There are many highs and lows working for a charity, helping the V.I. community of Southampton live full and happy lives is both immensely satisfying and, at times, emotionally taxing.  But no one group comes as close to ticking both these boxes as our Young V.I.’s.

Wanting nothing more than to live normal, youthful lives painting the town red and not letting their sight loss get in the way of a good night, this once-monthly meet up of the young and young of heart encapsulates all we at Southampton Sight do.  With a little planning, a smidgen of fantastic volunteers, and varying hair colours from blue and green to pink, the 1st Wednesday of every month sees our band of merry makers descend upon another unsuspecting restaurant for food, fun, frolics and the odd cocktail or two.

Celebrating over 2 years of meetings, our Young V.I. group goes from strength to strength, sharing stories, triumphs, support and laughter every day of the week through the power of WhatsApp.

And of course we are here every step of the way, joining in the festivities and ensuring everyone gets home safely.  Tis a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it…

If you are 18+ living with sight loss and would like to live the vida loca by becoming a member of the group, either in the flesh or via WhatsApp, please call us on 023 8076 9882, or send an email to support@southamptonsight.org.uk for more details.
