A big thumbs up and thanks to all our amazing volunteers and staff who helped make our Young V.I. Social Group’s adventure to Paulton’s Park such a resounding success! As the photos below show, an amazing day was had by all.
But the fun was only half the story. We here at Southampton Sight are all about empowerment and self-reliance, and so it was that a young visually impaired mother found the confidence to take her 5-year-old son on their first daytrip together:
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Angela from Southampton Sight for helping us today at Paulton’s Park. I was extremely nervous as it was the first time my son and I went out to a lengthy activity without family. Angela really helped me feel settled and helped us have an amazing day and with as much independence as possible. It’s really boosted my confidence. This was such a nice bonding trip for me and my little one, which we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do without Angela’s help. I really appreciate the support.” – Young mother living with sight loss.
If you, or anyone you know, aged between 18-35(ish) living with sight loss would like to join our Young V.I.’s for our regular monthly meeting, please contact Southampton Sight at support@southamptonsight.org.uk or call 023 8076 9882 and ask for Kris, thank you.
