The word “scone” itself drums up images of Queen Elizabeth II hosting a tea party, plying her guests with doughy goodness with a side of crumbs for the corgis but here at Southampton Sight the scone signifies an opportunity to delve into a world of blindfold baking and sight loss awareness. Yesterday it was an absolute pleasure to host a small team from Moore Barlow who came as part of an acknowledgement of World Sight Loss Day on 10 October. They grated, kneaded, shaped and cooked the famous Southampton Sight cheese scones blindfolded and in the process became sconnoisseurs of this humble iconic baked goodie but more importantly were exposed to world of sight loss and how adaptations and assistive technologies are so important.
Thank you also for hosting us all so generously yesterday. We really enjoyed the session and it gave us a huge insight into the challenges faced by VI people The scones all vanished within 5 minutes of being back in the office! Maya Sushila (Partner)
