Tommy has been a Trustee at Southampton Sight for over 30 years – can it get better than that?
When I first lost my sight 41 years ago at the age of 31, I struggled with coming to terms with it. However, Southampton Sight were there to help show me that there was “Life after Sight”. Meeting other visually impaired people at the Centre also helped, as they understood what I was going through practically, financially, and emotionally. I now feel honoured to have been a Trustee of the charity for the past 30 years and it enables me to say thank you for what they did to help me go on and have a fantastic 30-year career in helping other visually impaired people re-build their lives. On each visit to Southampton Sight there is always a friendly and warm welcome from the staff and other volunteers, and they always project a positive attitude to what visually impaired people can do as well as helping people to achieve their own goals in life living with a visual impairment.
