Great to be able to support the Wates Group Southern Trainee Networking Day for their new apprentice graduates starting with the organisation in September this year. The Challenge – to make a sandwich blindfolded.  We started with a blindfold eating challenge followed by a cutting demonstration of tomatoes and cucumber by our Southampton City Council ROVIs (Rehabilitation Officers for the Visually Impaired) Jo and Anthony. It was then time to put our trusty students to work.  After putting on their blindfolds or simulation specs they tried their hand at making their sandwiches – Ham or cheese sandwich anyone? We finished the session with some hands on sighted guiding out and about.

Sally from Wates Group commented ‘We started the day at Southampton Sight with a social value activity, making a sandwich blindfolded.  Doing this simple task with no sight was great fun but was surprising how difficult it was.  It was great as an ice breaker, well organised by the lovely team at Southampton Sight.’
