There are plenty of assumptions around about blindness and we believe that the more we all understand the more inclusive our world will become
Misconception: Blind people see only darkness. Reality: Blindness isn’t all or nothing. Many people have some remaining vision—like sensing light, noticing movement, or making out shapes.
Misbelief: If you’re blind, you can’t live on your own. Fact: With accessible technologies and the right training, blind people live independently, work jobs, run households—you name it.
Assumption: Everyone who’s blind uses Braille. In fact: Braille is amazing, but plenty of blind people use screen readers, audio tools, and tactile cues instead.
Fallacy: Blind people develop superhuman senses. The reality is: They’re not superheroes—they’ve just gotten really skilled at using the senses they rely on most.
