For some months now Southampton Sight’s visually impaired peer support group has been regularly catching up by using the conference line the society uses now for our virtual groups but yesterday was different.
Kate who has been supporting the members asked how the group would feel about trying video chatting? As most of the members had attended at least one virtual event they were happy to give it a go.
With support from a family member one of the VIP’s who hadn’t yet tried a virtual meeting successfully downloaded and signed up to the app we decided to use and once Kate had sent the link to her correct email address she was able to join the session on time 😊
The video chat was so successful that they’ve decided to make this the permanent way to meet until they can see each other in person.
One member said “Oh, isn’t this lovely – seeing everyone’s faces. It’s almost like we’re in the same room!” Southampton Sight are pleased to have been able to enable the group to meet and support each other through this difficult time we’re all living in.
